Former spokesman of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities, Publicist and Author, Founder of KOMMUNAL.HUB
Until the end of 2017 Franz-Reinhard Habbel worked at the German Association of Towns and Municipalities as a spokesperson and alderman for political issues and digitisation. He founded the DStGB-Innovators Club, a think tank for municipalities in Germany, and was a member of the IT-Planning Council and a board member of the European Society for eGovernment. Since 2009, he has been a lecturer at the University of Osnabrück in its Department of Social Sciences. As an expert in digitisation, he holds lectures both in Germany and abroad on globalisation, the internet, and the modernisation of politics and administration. Franz-Reinhard Habbel is co-editor of the magazine "KOMMUNAL" and editor of “ZMI", a ten-minute internet newsletter for local politicians. Since April 2018, he has been the managing director of HABBEL UG, a network for developing digital strategies in communities. He lives in Berlin with his family.
