Is a Professor of Project Management at BI in Oslo. He was a Professor of Technology- and Innovation Management at TU Berlin (2000-2015); and a Professor of Strategic Management at KIT (1988-200).
He studied Management and Psychology at the University of Saarbrücken (1970-1973), his PhD was about „Innovation Marketing“ (1978, University of Saarbrücken), his habilitation on „Human Information Behavior and its Efficiency“. (1986, University of Kiel), and he got an honorary doctorate from the University of Kiel (2014).
He was a founder and Chairman of the Scientific Commission TIE, a “Fachkollegiat” of the German National Science Foundation DFG (2006-2009), a member of the Advisory Board of the Hauck & Aufhäuser private bank (2006-2010), a member of the Corpoate Control Board of the ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG (2008-2012), Vice Chairman and Chairman of the EXIST-Program of the BMBF (2009-2017), Editor in Chief of Project Management Journal (2013-2017).
He supervised as a first supervisor 7 habilitation candidates and 71 doctoral students. 17 of them became full tenured professors.
