Dr. Matthias Flügge, born in 1973, studied computer science at three German universities and in other European countries. At the Technical University of Berlin he did his PhD on interoperability in distributed service-oriented infrastructures. Matthias Flügge worked in various research institutions (Heinz Nixdorf Institute, Society for Mathematics and Data Processing, Fraunhofer ISST). At the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS), he heads the Digital Public Services division. The division supports policymakers, administration and businesses in the strategic implementation of interoperable and secure ICT solutions in public spaces and public administration. In numerous national and international projects and expert networks Matthias Flügge develops strategies, architectures and solutions for modern administrations and cities of tomorrow.
