Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Guilherme majored in economics, and also studied documentary filmmaking and theatre. After graduation, together with Nathaniel Leclery, he started Matizar Filmes to independently produce low-budget documentaries on contemporary political issues. In 2016 he founded República.org. His documentaries “Fala Tu, Lives of Rhyme” and “PQD” have screened in festivals around the world, including the Berlinale (Panorama), Cinéma du Réel, Miami International, Rio International, and Mostra de São Paulo. At Matizar he produced “Jogo de Cena” and “Moscou”, by the legendary documentarian Eduardo Coutinho.
