Karl-Filip Coenegrachts is a recovering bureaucrat, urban activist, the director of citiesofpeople and independent expert on strategies for people-centered future cities. He has worked for the City of Ghent in Belgium for 18 years as Chief Strategy Officer. He introduced new and integrated ways of long term thinking and planning and strategic intelligence on the city level, including new forms of citizen engagement and place-based urban renewal. Based on his experience, he developed a concept for future cities – cities of people – that places people at the core of an evolution towards a warm city and society.
