Dr. Matthias Kollatz, born on 24 September 1957 in the Hessian youth home, has been Senator for Finance of the State of Berlin since December 2014. He began his professional career in 1981 as an independent engineer and scientific assistant at the Technical Universities of Berlin and Darmstadt before becoming head of the minister's office and later deputy head of department at the Hessian Ministry for Regional Development, Housing, Agriculture, Forestry and Nature Conservation in 1991. From 2000 to 2006 Matthias Kollatz was a member of the board of Investitionsbank Hessen and from 2006 he was a member of the board of the European Investment Bank, Luxembourg, for six years. From May 2012 until assuming the office of Senator, he was Senior Adviser in Finance and Regulation at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Matthias Kollatz studied physics and economics and earned his doctorate in engineering.
