Director, Verwaltungsakademie Berlin, Germany
Wolfgang Schyrocki has been Director of the Berlin Academy of Administration (VAk) since 2012, the central training service provider for all employees of the Berlin administration. He was previously a personal consultant in the staff of the Governing Mayor and head of department in the Department of Protocol and Foreign Affairs of the Senate Chancellery. In addition to his law studies at the FU Berlin and his legal clerkship, he worked for the German Bundestag. There he headed the regional office of the Berlin member of the Bundestag.
Every year, 40,000 employees of the state make use of the services offered by VAk Berlin. The VAk always has the social megatrends - which of course also affect the public administration in Berlin - in mind. Digitization, changing values, demographics, flexibilization of the working world, diversity in the area of employees and customers, efficiency pressure in the processes are topics that VAk calls up in a wide variety of formats. It thus makes an important contribution to the modernisation of the Berlin administration. In the VAk, Wolfgang Schyrocki has initiated a digital transformation of the various learning architectures from training to management development. His perspective is "to reach all employees in the Berlin administration directly at the workplace with the help of the digital possibilities offered by the VAk. Where the questions arise, the challenges are to be solved and where the future is to be shaped".
